JapShow Report 2011

Pro Class

Four cars entered into JDS Pro for the JapShow 2011, unfortunately this was reduced to three as Andy Robinson broke on Saturday. As qualifying got underway on Sunday John Bradshaw led the way with a spectacular 6.75 at a massive 206mph and continued to raise the bar for the class. Leon Green managed a 7.26 at 188mph in his Toyota Supra to claim second place while Chris Impey struggled with mechanical problems and could only record a 10.29 at 139mph to claim third.

Pro Class Final

John Bradshaw faced Leon Green in the final of the JDS Pro class and would have made for a fantastic race, unfortunately John pulled a -0.390 red light and it was over before it had began leaving Leon Green to run a 8.025 to claim the event win.

Fac Mod Class

Four cars entered JDS Fac Mod and Stuart Williams in his Toyota Supra led the way with a strong 8.74, 157mph run. Mikee Singh made a welcome return to drag racing and managed to record a good 9.93, 142mph blast for second place. Third place went to Stewart Taylor with a 11.62, 129.78 leaving Mark Moseley to claim fourth.

Fac Mod Class Final

Eliminations began with Stuart Williams dispatching Mark Moseley with a fine 8.92 to a losing 15.77 to earn his place in the final where he would come up against the returning Mikee Singh who managed a 9.92 to overcome Stewart Taylor. The final was Stuart Williams’ to loose and loose he did pulling a 1.78 reaction time he could not catch Mikee Singh despite running a consistent 8.75 leaving Mikee to take the win with a massive holeshot and a 9.66 at 144mph.

Street Class

With 14 cars entered, qualifying took on a whole new meaning, for the first time in the history of the Jap Drag Series racers where having to fight hard for a spot in the top 8. After three exciting sessions Rob Shadwell led the way in his Nissan Skyline recording a 9.71 closely followed by Johnny McKeon with a 9.89. James Willday, Jeff Ludgate, David Greenhalgh, Rob Blackshaw, Wayne Armsden and Mark Salem rounded off the top 8. The bump spot of 10.9s will be a guide to aim for in the future.

The final of JDS Street saw Rob Shadwell’s Nissan Skyline up against Wayne Armsden in his Nissan Skyline, both of these cars were on form throughout the weekend both running down into the 9’s. It was Rob Shadwell’s day however as he secured the event win with a fantastic 9.59 at 146mph to a losing 10.48 at 115mph.

FWD Class Qualifying

Top spot in JDS FWD went to Adam Buckley with a 9.95, 153mph effort, Douglas Gemmell achieved second spot with a 10.92, Paul Cresswell, Neil Knight and Karl Hart rounded off the top five.

Douglas Gemmell and Neil Knight fought their way through the field to face each other in the JDS FWD final, despite Neil Knight cutting a 0.17 light it was not enough as Douglas Gemmell caught and passed Neil to take home the event win with a 11.15, 124mph to a losing 11.83, 120mph effort.
